An Edwardian semi-detached house in Crouch End which faces almost due south at the rear, and has been comprehensively renovated in an energy-efficient manner.
All north-facing windows have had double-glazed sashes insterted into the existing boxes, while many other windows have also been double-glazed. Underfloor heating over floor insulation has been installed, and a modern condensing boiler. The front and rear wall bays have been insulated on the interior, and the long side wall on the exterior with 50mm of foam board coated in a polymer render. The attic insulation has been brought up to Building Regs standard, and 40% boarded over with insulated boarding for storage. A rainwater recycling system drawing from the extension roof, which supplies 2 WCs and a washing machine has been installed. On the roof is a large Solar PV array, and also Solar Water Heating.
Recycled and sustainable materials have been used wherever possible.
